My Stakeholder and Project

Evergreen Elder Law hired me part-time as a temporary employee to update and design their Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). After initial discussions, I learned one goal of the firm was to streamline employee operations in order to limit confusion and increase production. The second goal was to upload all employee procedures into an online learning system which would allow employees quick access to the procedures as well as allow stakeholders to track employee progress. The firm was unaware of the scope of the project and gave me time to assess what needed to be done.

Ultimately, this project included updating and redesigning current procedures found in four hard copy employee binders as well as designing new SOPs for new programs the firm recently adopted for every department. Also, they needed every SOP to be uploaded to a specific online learning management program for employees to access digitally. The firm required other small instructional design tasks to be done, such as creating quick check lists, infographics, and scripts as needed.

My Process

Plan: Materials were designed to be quick, to the point, and simple with step by step instructions. I provide the information in both written and visual forms to engage multiple learning styles. Design: I consulted SMEs throughout 5 departments about updates for current SOPs as well as what new procedures needed to be added.  With this information I could narrow down where to start. In this specific instance, many employees ...

Develop: I began my development process by selecting my design tool. Canva is a favorite of mine because it allows for easy customization and has added visual appeal. PDF versions were also created and made accessible to employees.
