My Process
Plan: I started with a goal of bringing awareness to mindfulness practices in the office and employees taking action and using mindful practices when they feel they need. I wanted to design an interactive elearning course employers can use to help raise employee awareness of health and wellness practices in the workplace. This is a course employees can take on their own at their own pace.
Design: I started my process by researching multiple sources for why mindfulness is important for health and wellness and why it was beneficial to the workplace. Then, I gathered specific mindful practices employees can use while working. I organized the information into sections and outlined where interactive learner knowledge assessments could be included.
Develop: I began my development process by selecting my design tool. Rise was my preferred choice because the course I was looking to design would be online, self-paced, and interactive. I chose to use a pre-made course I could easily adapt to my subject matter. I quickly copied and pasted the information and uploaded additional pre-made materials. I customized the assessment sections with interactive scripts, scenarios, and quizzes. I practice equity and inclusion by being sure that underrepresented groups, such as women and people of color, are represented in my materials. I selected images which best matched the information presented and used easy to follow relaxing language.
After the initial design was complete, it went through a feedback loop and suggested changes were made. Then, the graphic went through a second feedback loop of specialists and final changes were made.
