Google Suite (Excerpt)

My Process

Plan: This is an excerpt of a larger instructor led training that was designed to help employees better navigate and become familiar with Google Suite as their new file management system. Materials were designed to be quick, to the point, and simple with step by step instructions. I provide the information in both written and visual forms to engage multiple learning styles. A content table guide, not included in excerpt, is provided for quick reference. While designed primarily for an instructor to lead employees though the steps, materials can be used by employees on their own time at their own pace at any time, if the instructor led training is missed.

Design: I started my process by consulting with stakeholders about what they felt employees needed to know about using Google Suite. I consulted multiple employees about what they already knew, felt they needed to know, or what their position might require. With this information I could narrow down where to start. In this specific instance, many employees where not familiar with Google Suite so I started with the basics. I organized the information in step by step format with plans to include visuals of each step for those unfamiliar with Google Suite title names and symbols. Employees follow the step by step instructions as their assessment during the instructor led training.

Develop: I began my development process by selecting my design tool. Canva is a favorite of mine because it allows for easy customization and has added visual appeal. I chose to upload my Canva designs into Google Drive and created slide shows that could be used for trainings and shared and saved in all employees drives for future reference. Google Slides was also my preferred choice because the materials I was looking to design would be instructor led initially, but also a resource that could be accessed at any time. PDF versions were also created and made accessible to employees.
